Catch 22 was great, MASH, and the Gunner Asch trilogy by a former German NCO on the Russian Front for me.

Not sure if Hogan's Heroes qualifies or not, but that was a funny show. Too bad about 'ol Bob Crane though (Col Hogan); apparently he had some "personal issues."

Even though I have never watched it I think the new show "Enlisted" falls into that category.

Without a doubt one of my favorite movies of all time is "Kelley's Heroes." As funny as it is, there are some elements that are not as far fetched as one might think. Confusion - and the ability to "get away with stuff" - in wartime is a very real thing. I'm sure we all have a story or two we could tell about getting away with something we shouldn't have (and I don't necessarily mean anything "evil" by this...) in the middle of a conflict.

MASH, Stripes, Beetle Bailey, and SGT Bilko are the best in my humble opinion. This new show "Enlisted" is pretty good. But you really can't mess with the classics.

Couldn't agree more on the oldies you listed, SFC. Haven't seen "Enlisted" though.

It's not a movie or TV series but their articles are hilarious.

CPO Sharkey. Hopefully I am not the only one that remembers this show. Or how about SGT Bilko, not the movie with Steve Martin, the old TV series with Phil Silvers.

Does "Down Periscope" count? I don't know how much satire was behind that movie...seems legit to me.

Directed by David S. Ward. With Kelsey Grammer, Lauren Holly, Rob Schneider, Harry Dean Stanton. Lt. Cmdr. Tom Dodge is assigned as Captain to the USS Stingray, an old diesel driven submarine that has seen better days. With a crew that consists only of weird guys (and a gal), he's headed against the atomic powered USS Orlando, with the mission to destroy a dummy battleship.
