What are you thankful for this Armed Forces Day [2015]?

May is a month which is chock full of reminders about military service for those serving, those supporting the people who are serving and those who died while in the service of this nation.
We are living in turbulent times yet I believe we have much to be thankful for. I am thankful:
1. that our armed forces are still attracting highly qualified, conscientious, and motivated soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.
2. that this nation is still generally the land of the free and more certainly the home of the brave.
3. for the privilege of serving this nation for so many years and getting to work with and know so many of those who served with me.
4. for the love of my wife and sons.
5. for my daily and eternal salvation through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

1) I thank God for his divine plan for my life and protecting me.
2) I'm thankful for having the opportunity to meet so many great men and women in the military from all walks of life, and it is an honor to serve with the best Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, Sailors, and Coast Guards in the world.

What a great thread LTC Stephen F. I could spend all day reading the responses on your thread. I am grateful that God has the patience to put up with a person like me. I felt so undeserving of forgiveness for most of my life, yet no matter how bad I may feel, knowing that God will never abandon me and loves me despite of my MANY mistakes over the last 46 years. To God be the glory.
I am grateful for RallyPoint and their ability to keep us together as we transition out of the service and experience troubles adapting to civilian life. A couple days ago, I was having words with a 4 Star General and also a potential recruit. Talk about a wide range of experience to draw upon! There are some AMAZING members on here that I would do anything to meet some day. You truly never know the impact your actions may have on people. God brings us together for a reason. Everybody, from that person you met 25 years ago that gave you insight, to the person you will meet 30 years from now. Make a positive impact on people so that they too can look back 25 years from now and remember that one time when your words really hit home and moved them in a positive direction. As always, love over hate.
We all followed in someone's footsteps in this career path we have all chosen. I am grateful for everyone who came before me in the service of our great nation. I had the honor and privilege of being taught by Vietnam veterans, who were taught by Korean war veterans, etc. We have been keeping each other alive since before there was a United States. I am thankful and grateful for everyone who felt it was their duty and responsibility to put others ahead of themselves and served their nation honorably. We represent such a small portion of the population and our service is what makes us close. We are never alone We are family.

Thank you SFC Mark Merino. I am fairly sure that God prompted me to post this question today. I spend much of the day in praise and prayer and try to be sensitive to His leading.
Thank you also for reminding us of the heritage we each share as well as our part in shaping future generations.
I too am grateful for RallyPoint which has enabled me to keep in touch with people I served with over 30 years ago as well as introducing me to many other service members and veterans.

I am thankful that I served this country. Also that I served with great men and women who watched out for each other. And I'm also thankful for the example I set for my children.

LTC Stephen F. I am most thankful for the people I was lucky enough to serve with, the fact I was allowed to serve our great Republic for over two decades, and for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who still serve, served with me, and set the standard before me.
I am also thankful for the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we might have this forum to present our thanks.
Finally, I am thankful to God for allowing me everything and for teaching me so many lessons and sharing so many experiences.

I'm grateful for those currently serving, abroad and home, reserves, guard and active duty, protecting our freedoms.
I'm grateful for my Granddaddy and those of the greatest generation who served during WWII.
I'm grateful for many of my friends who are Vietnam era veterans and their service and welcome them home.
I'm grateful to the families of those who served and their sacrifices.
Most of all, I'm grateful to be an American and to have the freedoms I enjoy today because of sacrifies made.

Bittersweet thankfulness for my GI Bill as I should be out doing parades, however am swamped with a mother-load of homework.
Looking back on it though, I'm glad I served, gave me an insight on many things, and it made me who I am today.

LTC Stephen F. Sir I am thankful for just being alive and employed. Just thankful to have served and continue serving and to all my brother and sister in arms, Happy Armed Forces Day past and present and those who have sacrificed their lives so we can live a better one.
