I was only at three places in my time with Uncle Sam,Fort Lewis Washington where I trained for ten months,Vietnam and Fort Polk Louisiana where I trained troops going to Vietnam.I guess you can guess my least favorite, hint it doesn't begin with Fort.

I completely agree, barely any good cell reception and the barracks were terrible as far as conditions go.

The job was great at Polk. Always mission oriented and few distractions from it. But the post is in the middle of nowhere. Everyone hung out at Walmart on the weekend.

Yes 29 stumps is the hottest, sweaty, wind blowing pounds of sand that all tries to stick to you. I did rail duty there 14 times for NTC, two days to unload our gear and then convoy drive it to Ft. Irwin on sand tank trails.

I was in Wildflecken for 2 1/2 years and had a good time. The advantage of being stationed there is when you went to the field you went somewhere else.

One of my favorite Duty Stations was Wildflecken. To (Me) it was one of the Best Kept Secrets that the Army had. I spent 3 years there (90-93) and it was a great Duty Station. Also, I have over a dozen Brothers I met there and we still keep in touch, I went to one of their Retirement Celebrations in 2017 (over 20 years of Brotherhood). It only what you make it.
