Based off of my experience, Sig. You do realize the can of worms you're opening though, right? You think political arguments on this site are bad? This is going to turn into a knock down, drag out, bareknuckle blood brawl.. lmao

If it's made in America, it's my preference. If I can shoot the firearm accurately and it feels comfortable, it's my preference. This is a Ford vs Chevrolet question. The question is too open ended to draw an accurate conclusion. Glock and S&W do not make long guns. Do you prefer a bolt action, a lever gun, a single shot or a semi-auto. Do you prefer a rifle, a pistol, a revolver or a shotgun???? Too many variables. My overall favorite is the one I have when the feces hits the oscillating device.

I agree each person has a preference as to what type of handgun or long gun to carry. I prefer the M1911. Proven to bring down the bad guy or animal.

PO2 David Dunlap - The Italian model that I had was the fastest take down sequence of any gun I had.

I have no earthly idea who is best. Some criteria would have to be provided to make any kind of determination. I like what I have.
However, the discussion thread photo reminds me of Barrett Firearms Manufacturing. Barrett's headquarters and manufacturing facility is near my home (a mere 36 miles away), so I thought I'd show some photos of the facility since I drive past it frequently. Barrett is located just south of Murfreesboro, TN, on the east side of I-24W.

Yes, 10 miles away and on th route I take almost every day. Barrett family owns both, but not certain of the exact legal structure.

Wow, Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen, that's quite a trip! I'm guessing maybe a thousand miles?

LTC Stephen C. Ya we'd do it in 2 days, actually tried to stay around Murfreesboro most of the time. Won't be doing it anymore though, son moved to Maine this summer. Unfortunately thats an even longer trip, may have them come to us from now on.

Kind of a stupid question that will not have a solid answer. Is best represented by number of guns sold, the most models in a line up, the least amount of warranty claims or maybe the manufacturer who has the most guns in rap videos? Seriously, how do you claim the status of "best" without anything else to go on?

Cant use numbers sold...Vega and Pinto sold in enormous numbers. VHS sold in gigantic #s but was the inferior format in every respect save price.

this is true, my $.02? with a limited income, if it will shoot and is reasonably priced and the ammo is available at a reasonable price, who cares what the manufacture is. For early innovation though, smith wesson, ease of reload, any auto pistol providing you can afford the magazines, long guns? toss up, I am nostalgic, a top break, rolling block, for reasonably long rang shooting, thompson and lever action for in between ranges, military use? m-60, m79

LTC (Join to see) hi point does make an interesting Carbine. Extremely reliable. I had 2 of them and never had any failures with them. But, they are a pain in the a.. to breakdown for cleaning. Then again, they didn't recommend cleaning until you ran 500-1000 rounds thru it.
