LTC Stephen Conway a question. Back around 2005 I took exception to one of my classmates assertions on how good the Canadian health care system was. She was Canadian. She finally gave up but also said that the system was actually two systems. One for Canadians and one for the Indigenous people. She also said the government insurance worked only for the Indigenous on the reservations. A. Was that correct, B. Is it still that way or has it been reformed. Thanks.

Canada had a hundred bases and trained over 105, 000 Harriman from all over the world during World War II because Canada was far enough away from Japanese and German bombers. Canada joins England and France in september, 1939 so Americans who wanted to fight to defend Freedom before the US got involved went to Canada to volunteer instead of running to Canada 25 years later to avoid the draft and not serve in the Vietnam conflict. Canada didn't care if you were American and you could become a commissioned officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force. I once wrote a story about an American private that was mobilized for the one-year mobilization of all reserve and guard forces. He got bored marching around so he went absent without leave and took off the canada. He was accepted in their military and they didn't know about him being a deserter of this unit. He ended up to coming a flight officer which is a command equivalent of a captain and he flew and a submarine warfare missions over Scotland and the North Sea looking for German you both to sink. After the war was over, he married a Canadian, got a Bachelor's degree from Canadian colleges. He then turned himself into the US forces and was thrown in military police detention for a month. He was able to contact the Canadian embassy and they were able to forward his military file to the US Army. The US Army let him go on one condition that he did not ask for his back pay from the time he left his unit in 1941. True story I read this years ago.

Maj Kim Patterson Canada may have their own brands of stuff but as far as going to the market or or going out for fast food, I would say the majority of the chains are the same and the food items sold at the market are very close. I'm from California originally and Carl's Jr started there yet the Carl's Jr here in Canada has poutines which is basically fries with gravy something the French Canadians added to the main Canadian menu. At least in alberta, I kind of felt that it was becoming little by little more like the USA because the police cars ended up going black and white in the major Alberta cities. Occasionally I'll see a vehicle pulled over by the Canadian Highway Patrol when it says sheriff on the side even though it's probably RCMP Royal Canadian Mounted Police. When I saw Carl's Jr come to alberta, it was a little bit more like Southern california. What's really weird is the indigenous people have picked up on the hip hop rap. Here is kind of a rank but somewhat True song called what's really really r e z. Instead of calling it the reservation, they call it the reserve or r e z for short.
