What do you think your military enlistment proved?

It didn’t prove anything to me, but it proved to my family they knew absolutely nothing about me. They all thought I wouldn’t make it through boot camp because I wasn’t athletic…the whole time, the buff jocks were the ones that broke down every other day LMAO

My time on active duty proved I could survive with a sense of humor and that NCO really meant no chance outside. I learned that we have a Marine corps to pull the army's ass out of a combat situation. I learned that our asses were a little significant to the powers that be unless it meant votes. It was fun!!

Everything started as a citizens in pursuit of a carrier in my life. Finish my high school and started two years of college; and I join the service due to unemployment status. The service became a call of God in my life; to encounter a life with purpose; as an warrior of are nation under God. Life started to light up and understand that God needed to prepare me to serve him in the capacity of a warrior; become a defender of liberty and pursuit of happiness for me, family and country. Military enlistment is chance to serve God and Country; an make the difference for future generations to come; to be part of a glorious vision; one nation under God. So God Help Us. God Bless America.

Having Joined The USAF Immediately Upon My 17 th Birthday 06/29/1961,
I Had Left The Public Lack-Of-Education-System
As They Had Absolutely Nothing Useful To Offer.
So, When I Joined The USAF, I Only Had Wasted 9 Years Of My Life.
Upon Hitting My First Assignment At A SAC Base, Little Rock AFB,
I Headed To The Ed Shed, Completed My High School GED
Then I Proceeded To Take EVERY Business Program I Was Able To Complete In The Following 4 Years.
Total Count Was About 30, Plus A Program Through University Of California, Berkeley;
And Another Through The University Of Arkansas.
Let's Bottom Line This:... (But I Obviously DIDN'T, But Read On Just For Chuckles.)

I Became A Mid-Level Manager For FMC; Purchasing Agent For 1 Year; Purchasing Director For 4 More Years; By Passing Assistant Purchasing Agent Completely.
Owned By Printing Business For Just Over 27 Years & RETIRED At 56.
We Need Public Schooling About As Much As We Need Warm Salt Poured Over
Our Bleeding Hemorrhoids....
Examples: How Many Of Us Even Learned As Much As How To Balance Your Own Check Book Before Graduating HS?
Okay,...NOW: What Did You Learn By Your Senior Year, To Actually Qualify For ANY Occupation?

Not A Damned Thing From Public Schooling.

Proved that my level of tolerance for BS and hardships was on another level.

My enlistment just epitomized my desire to serve my country and express my belief that I was willing to put my life on the line to protect, preserve and defend the Constitution of the United States.
Interestingly enough, I still feel the same way and will respond to the bugle when it sounds.

It didn’t prove anything for me, in the words as my former Co-worker I could care less you was in the Military what does that do for the Company now… NOTHING then he walks away I’m in disbelief and all I said was in the military we would work together to get this job done

When I graduated High School, I was not scholastically or financially prepared for college and I decided to join the Air Force rather than wait for the draft which allowed me to pick a career field that I was qualified for rather than be thrust into a situation where I had absolutely no control. The Air Force provided an opportunity to serve my country, and learn a skill I could use later in life. as well as earn the GI Bill to further my education after my discharge.
I was able to achieve all the goals I set prior to enlisting and get a college degree to boot. My Military Enlistment proved to be one of the wisest decisions of my life!
