The question is 'which." And the answer is the UNITED STATES COAST GUARD. And if you do not check to confirm what I'm saying, you will miss out on a superior career opportunity. Period.

Follow your heart. Do your due diligence, sure. Check them all out. Ask lots of questions. Talk to lots of people. Listen to their answers. Sometimes, you also need to read between the lines to catch what they’re really saying. You may get lots of offers from recruiters like choice of job or duty station. In the end, all five services begin with U.S., as in Uncle Sam. He will tell you who, what, when, where, and how. The Army is currently at 675,000 personnel, including Reserves. The Marines are at 220,500, again counting Reserves. The Coast Guard stands at about 50,000. You want to feel like you’re doing a big job in a small family? Check us out.

It really depends on what you want to do and how you want to live. The Marines and Army have different missions and capabilities. The Marines are more of a fast attack amphibious branch with some ability to do prolonged land operations. The Army is meant for sustained ground operations and is structured for that role. Each can in a pinch fulfill the others missions, but it's not usually ideal. Marines typically are more disciplined on duty, but that varies depending on the unit culture. I suggest that you do some research from unbiased sources as most of us will be biased towards our own branches. I can tell you that there are great Marines and Soldiers, but there are also terrible Marines and Soldiers too.

Navy, of course! Haha...just kidding...it really depends on what you want to do, where you'd like to live, and future family considerations. Good luck.

Do You want to cook? Fix things? Drive or fly something? Are You good with facts, figures, paperwork? These are basic questions only You can answer for yourself, do that first. Then schedule a time to talk with a Recruiter from each of the Service Branches.

Iman Miles - First, let me disclose... I've been out of the Marines for 25 years. There were things I loved and things I hated. There were things we did better than other services, and although I hate to say it, there were things that I felt they did better than marines.
My exposure to other services was significant, but by no means all inclusive.
Hear are things that I believe were true then but may not be now.
_Achieving the rank of Corporal, a junior NCO meant something in the Marines. More responsibility was given, more was expected, and failure to act the part of Corporal was corrected quickly and decisively, in garrison and in the field. Less so in the other services
_I have the utmost respect for US Army Rotary wing aviation. At the Tactical, Technical and operational level, they have/had no peers.
_The level of esprit de Corps in the Marines, is service wide. In the Army, it seemed to me that it was based on the command or the branch.
Until you have a better idea of where you are headed, career or short-term, officer or enlisted, purely military skills or skills transferable to the civilian work force; it is hard to give meaningful advice.

Marines no question. People tend to not fuck with Marines. Just the way it is. We need the army for sure no question. But to answer this question Marines are better. ... Better looking, shape, toughness, fighters, lovers, better at screwing up, doing it right, we're just better all around.... The question wouldn't exist if it weren't true. Don't know how many times you all need to hear it but here is one more Marines opinion. Which arguably could just be a fact

Totally a loaded question. I'm a prior service Marine who is now a CW2 in the Army National Guard. I can tell that there are things the Marines do well and not so well - the same can be said for the Army. The Marines by far have the best uniforms. To answer your question though, I think the Marines are the better service. There are many different reasons but for the most part, the Army has way to many masters (to many chiefs and not enough Indians). As a Platoon Sergeant in the Marines, I had oversight and implement my PL's guidance without having to worry about his bosses guidance. In the Army, it's the total opposite. One huge problem with the Army that drives me crazy is their approach to any problem - just throw large amounts of people at it and eventually, it will fix itself. PMCS needs to get done, through an entire company of soldiers at the issue.

Marines in my opinion is better. after I left active service, then after my divorce, I went army to get a retirement package. that 6 years was hell, E-6 acting like PFC's.
My son went army and he has re uped, so he could go for the Rangers and his command and SgtMaj screwed him out of Ranger schools, he is an Infantry stud Expert Infantry badge only PVT in his Battalion to get it, 300 PFT, expert on every weapon system his CO. pushed on him(M-4, MG Gunner, Gustav gunner, Javelin) . Upon earning his Corporal stripes (all this in 2 years).
He was lied to at his reenlistment, for his units bennifit, his former E-4 squad leader, when he was a PVT, is now in the squad my son is in charge of now.
The Marines wouldn't F you over like that.
