Also, I don't know you guys still have to deal with this, but they used have these orange reflective belts. I think that Army was little too attached to those.

The military has gotten too soft! We train to fight not "hug it out." My basic/AIT was brutal but it is what made me who and what I am. Pretty soon instead of shooting Howitzers we will be shooting glitter cannons. I didn't enlist to make friends, I enlisted to protect fellow citizens and our country. Now its "drill Sargent that hurt my feelings, I'm sorry private why don't you take a break and i'll reflect on my actions."

Two of them.
1. Kick the Air Force out of DOD and just make them a uniformed service like Public Health and NOAA.
WHY: Really? You have to ask? All you have to look at their AFI to recognize that they are trying to run it like a corporation then a military organization. I have more respect for the USPHS than the USAF.
2. Do away with undergraduate program at military academies.
WHY: There are plenty of ROTC options. You still want 1,000 special people to pick? Give them military academy scholarships. It not like these graduates are any better prepared for a commission then ROTC counterparts and it would still be cheaper.

SSgt Russell Stevens - Hey there you should be able to contact the (you local) VA's Patient Care Representative and tell him/her your problem, and that you are not getting any results or any help, they should/may also reimburse you for that doctor visit you paid for yourself. Use one of the veteran organizations to help you through the process of completing the paper work and filing your claim, the VFW, DAV, and American Legion are experts at this. But it still takes years to get what you deserve. It took me about 5 years to get to 100% and my brother even longer but we got there and got paid back oay from when we applied.

I don't know how radical it is, but we have to get past the belief by the general public that everyone who served is somehow an expert on the military. Closely related, don't think you are an expert because you served one enlistment.

The average person in this country doesn't have a clue about the US Military's day to day operation and far too many service members don't either.

The worst part is that this is true. I think that RP shows us more than enough proof as to the validity of this opinion; it seems as if every single day there is another person asking about what a particular MOS does or what a certain post is like to work at, so on and so forth - and these questions come from SMs and civilians alike.

I disagree. If you spent anytime on Active Duty, in a NON TRAINING environment, you know what a soldiers day to day life is like.
When a SM asks, "What is it like at Fort Bragg?" They are not asking what it is like to be in the 82nd, they know what that is going to be like, for the most part. Some people may think it will be more STRAC, and be disappointed, and some won't understand how STRAC it is, and will be disappointed.
What they are really asking, and if you were a smart soldier you would know this because you would have been asking it yourself.
What are the MWR facilities like? What is the weather like, how is the civilian population around the base. What is the civilian population like away from the base. What kind of civilian entertainment do they have, how far away is ti from X touristy crap. and other things about POST LIFE that matter.
When i was in the Navy, while stationed at Miramar, the post had relaxed the drinking age, to compete with Tijuana, and in an effort to keep young sailors out of trouble. You could buy beer and wine at 18, but the strong stuff was still 21 and over. These are the things they are asking about. No one asks: I am an infantryman, what is it like to be in the infantry at fort Drum. Every infantryman knows what an infantryman's life is. That said if one is transferring form a mechanized unit, to a light unit, one might be curious just how much walking and shit one might be doing, as it really is a completely different job. It has also been said that a ranger tab is a tab, but the scroll is a way of life. People asking about SF posts, Ranger Regiment, etc are asking how STRAC will i have to be.
