Since we all have so much pride in our country. I was wondering where you stood when it came to purchasing a car.

Considering that some Foreign companies, like Honda, invest heavily in American labor force, I don't feel even a tiny bit bad driving around in foreign cars. But if it's a pickup, it HAS to be a Chevy, there just isn't another option.

Find something you like and buy it. All cars are junk. I own American and foreign, they all serve their purpose and I enjoy them all. They all break and break down. American is cheaper to maintain while living in the US.

We currently own a 2014 Ford Fusion, a 2014 Chevy Cruze, a 2014 Lincoln MKZ, and a 2011 Harley Davidson Street Glide. I've owned foreign cars before but I prefer to buy from American companies. According to Car & Driver a few years ago, the Toyota Tundra was the most American vehicle based on poring in of parts and manufacturing. The Tundra is 75% American. I'm still a Ford guy, looking for a 1960's model F-100 now to just have around, don't really need one, I just want one.

The Fusion and the MKZ are both Mexican cars, from an American manufacturer. I am not sure where the Cruze is made, but I would not doubt it if the VIN did not start with a 1. Either way the Fusion and MKZ are fine automobiles regardless of where they are made.

The US seems more interested in creature comforts and cars that can park themselves than gas mileage so where do you go to get what you want?

I would disagree with that statement above. It all depends where you are looking. I normally buy what I like regardless of brand or where it is made. All auto manufacturers are concerned with creature comforts are cars that car be as automated as possible. One of my current cars is German and it car park itself in parallel parking (I do not really use it since I can do it myself), but it sure as heck helps to have all the sensors and cameras when parking to keep you from scuffing the car.

From what the Hyundai plant puts out there, only the power plants (engines are produced overseas, the rest, made here, but then who knows, I have found things with "MADE IN USA" flag labeled and in small print somewhere it says "Made in China"

The automotive industry is a global one nowadays. Not one car is made 100% in one country/location. Same happens with the aviation industry. It is all about making profit. It is the reason why VW makes its North American cars in Mexico and they now have a plant in the US for the NA Passat and other upcoming US models. It saves money on the shipping across the pond.

Good gas mileage... because nothing is truly 'American' made anyway. Though I do prefer something with an 'American' label on it, if that makes sense...
