What is your unofficial or self-prescribed therapy?

My wife recently asked why I prefer the quiet of the National Forest land behind my house to the warmth and comforts of home... rain or shine. I didn't really have an answer for her. She tends to look at my "escapes" as she calls it, in a negative light. I look at it as my off the books therapy.
No I'm not officially diagnosed with PTS, many say I should head to the VA... that's another story. Yes I did a combat deployment to Afghanistan's Oruzgan Province in 2003. I self medicate. There are times where I find myself extremely frustrated with the day to day activities in a house with 2 kids and a dog. 6-8 miles later, stomping through the woods, I'm healed. My head is clear, short fuze has been lengthened. . .
So I ask you RP Community, what's your unofficial therapy? What centers you?
My hope is to share techniques that work for some, so that others can benefit as well.

I like my privacy living out in the country. Eat organic as much as possible but have recently began doing the smoothie drinks days I can't eat solid foods. Began the essential oils too. My friends like the ones met here on Ralley point. Not a lot of smog up where I live and have people who watch out for me a bit.

I actually have 2 outlets, a 4 year old Grand Daughter, which is better than any anti-depressant ever made. And, shooting, shooting and a little more shooting. My wife has observed me shooting and has commented, many times, at the transition of calm and focus that comes over me. I never really noticed any change, but it is obvious to everyone around me.

There is just something about the smell of burnt gunpowder to make everything better. As far as grandkids go the younger the better because all they want is to laugh and play.

I read a lot and I acquire a lot of e-books still, just read American Sniper in about 4 hours. Since I have various DJ music software for mixing, I do my own music compilations just for fun, plus it lets my mind escape, it just take me to another place. I have eclectic music tastes and collect many songs from all genres. I been thinking about taking up the ukulele again and add in playing the guitar, I used to play the sax when I was younger. But that's how I get by for now.

Range time is always very helpful, but without a doubt the best therapy is time spent backpacking the Eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
I tried talking with a therapist once (at the behest of my wife) . . but came away from the experience so frustrated I wanted to scream, I then headed straight to the mountains and calmed right down. Haven't looked back since.
Wood carving is another favorite . . in the mountains.

My unofficial therapy me and the iron. I Lift things up and put them down. Seriously, it clears my mind of overthinking and I use mental games to focus on my goals.

I am a member of a group here in Southwest Missouri that has been using this technique to help Vets. from newly released to 'Nam vets. Nothing better than a little time in the woods to calm you down.

I have to agree with several others because I use shooting, nature hiking and riding my motocycle as therapy. I dont just use one technique because I like having a variety of outlets to always have one available to me.
