What's it like being a FA junior officer? What challenges do you face & what are the goals of the job? Do you like the branch?

Upon enlisting into the NC ARNG this year as an 09S, I was attached to a Field Artillery Unit. I suspect NC wants me to branch as such eventually...

You have a good chance at extra duties like: safety, movement, hazmat officer.

Don’t volunteer to be the movement officer. As a 2LT I was OIC of railroading a BCT.

You will be asked to go to a different Battery in your BN once you become a 2LT.

SPC (Join to see)
LTC (Join to see) I'm so afraid of that. In this short amount of time, these guys have become family. However, I understand the reasoning behind it though.

Recommend that you continue to look out for number one and may even look at the Army Reserve for an assignment.. Keep sharp!

Unlike the other branches being FA didn't guarantee being a platoon leader when I was a 2LT late 80s early 90s. I never was a platoon leader. I served as a FIre Support Officer, Battery XO and Fire Direction Officer. Those three years prepared me for the next 23 years well! The additional duties as well as temporary duties like commissary inventory, 15-6 Investigating Officer will give you a number of positive experiences that will help you grow! Artillery can easily eat their own so always be prepared if you need to serve in a different branch after your LT time.
