Only the worst Christian apologists say it takes faith to be an atheist. Agnostic isn't a category. Everyone is agnostic whether they are theists or atheists. We are either an agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist. We don't know if a god exists, but we either believe one does or doesn't.

Edit: Faith is very weak when it comes to logic. I do my absolute best to remain strong when it comes to logic. I want my logical reasoning to be solid, not weak. When you say someone has "faith", to me, that is an insult on their ability to reason logically and my critical thinking and logical reasoning skills are strong.

You are greatly misunderstanding what agnostic is. Look up ANY debate on this topic. Agnostic is NOT a stand alone. Agnostic DOES NOT mean "I'm not sure". Agnostic means "you do not know". The reason your parents won't say they are agnostic is because they believe (on faith) so strongly, that they are certain and they know a god exists. I know for a fact that their specific god does not, but I cannot be sure that a god does not exist.

Since God is completely unfalsifiable, everyone is agnostic, we literally cannot know. ALL unfalsifiable claims, we cannot know. We can only ever KNOW if they are falsifiable or not. They describe two very different things.
