Doesn't matter if you agree with this move or not - it's been directed and it's happening. What are your suggestions for renaming the following bases?

- Fort Bragg
- Fort Rucker
- Fort Benning
- Fort Gordon
- Fort Hood
- Fort Polk
- Fort A.P. Hill
- Fort Belvoir
- Fort Lee
- Fort Pickett

Renaming a Base, Fort or Post cost millions of dollars to each when renaming a base, fort or a post. Just like Obama did combining Bases, Forts or Post under one name in a region of operation. For example Fort Sam Houston and Lackland Air Force Base became Joint Base San Antonio which caused the USPS a headache to reissue new zip codes for each. I say if it ain't broken, don't fix it. They all have a part in our history wither good, bad or ugly. It seems we are in an era to erase our past and eventually forgotten. Oh! it will also cause a bordon on the states and cities to change signage as well which will probably cost 10's of thousands of tax payer dollars.

Erasing history does not undo history. While history does have a checkered past (to put it mildly), it is learning from that history that helps society to progress.

Vietnam and Afghanistan. Wed didn't learn a damn thing. Committed our forces, then cut and run. Politicians are gutless. They count on our men and women in the armed to have the guts to do their bidding.

I don’t think we should wipe away the history lessons learned, by changing the names of these bases. Americans died defeating the Confederacy, and most of these men chose a side during a pivotal moment in history, the side of their home state. The defeat of the Confederacy also defeated the ugly institution of slavery; hiding these names are wiping away the historical reminders that ensure we don’t regress back to a time of division and the enslavement of a population. Otherwise, the State where their located should decide!

GREAT IDEA....... We'll Re-Write History & Have More Of Our Own HEROES.
Really, Who'll Know?.. Is The Whole World Stupid, Or Just Us?..
Uh.. Yup, It's Just US
So Let's Re-Write Samuel Clemons Classics Too.... (aka Mark Twain)
OOPS.. Too Late, It's Already Being Done Too,
But Also Re-written In The Name Of "Political Correctness" .
What A PILE Of SH*T We've Created And There's No Way Out Any More.
We Really Fkup Up This Time...... I Mean "Again".
~~ That's Our Lie & We''re Sticking To It. ~~

I think they should name them after Medal of Honor recipients.

Leave them alone. They were named for American soldiers who participated in war according to their patriotism. Don't lecture me about supporting slavery, that wasn't part of the question.
