As someone who enlisted in 1983 and is still serving to this day; it amazes me how the Democrat Party preys on the ignorant to further their agendas. If the left still thinks having these names is racist and offensive; just like right-wing protesters have now become extremists and domestic terrorists, the Democrat Party should lead the way by renaming their party as well. Remember that party never voted for the 13th Amendment and implemented Jim Crow. As a Puerto Rican who attended public school in Harlem in the 70s, I saw this game up close and personal when the first Black representatives in the US Congress were on display but the school deliberately omitted they were Republicans. My suggestion is to swap the Confederate named posts with the posts that were closed under BRAC. There are some posts named under Union Generals such as General McClellan and this way, you keep the effort partisan, keep it's legacy and also provide a museum and other memorial of sort.

Seceding from the Union was a traitorous thing to do. Seceding from the Union was an act of treason. For me, celebrating an act of traitorous treason is not in keeping with the United States Constitution. . . .

no issue is ever that simple. History is complicated and cannot beviewed through any new standards and culture.

And here come all the racist insurrectionists and jan. 6 fan boys. Active and Veterans in uniform or used to wear the uniform chiming in about their trash heros being picked on.
Those bases need those trash names gone. Only klanservative Reich Wing magabots and replacement theory ding backs are hurt.
Only hateful blue falcons fight and protest about garbage officers and generals from the traitorous states in the civil war. Alot of yall still think that way too hence the amger towards them renaming thoe posts. Leave those pieces of garbage in theo history books oh wait thats right yall want them banned. Or at least real history because yall love that revisionist history.
Served with alot of racist trash that hid their hate behind the uniform, disgrace and cowardly abuse of power too. That privilege I tell ya....

Wow! You are right about one thing... racism is still real. But, you might want to try some introspection.
