IMO if we use the names of closed forts from the 19th century we would have Custer, Reno, C.F.Smith, Kearney, Apache, Lowell , Funston, etc. If we used the names of MOH recipients (there are no winners of the MOH) we have an all inclusive choice of personnel. I would go with that.

Maybe we could name them after the brave young men that ran off to Canada during Vietnam.

It's already been decided, your opinion will not count at all, all they need is to agree on the budget needed to implement such changes...Fort Gordon will be Fort Eisenhower...

Well, that doesn't make it right. Let's just spend more money we don't have for a frivolous reason.

To rename Camp A P Hill, after Mary Walker us especially horrid. Mary Walker was a contract surgeon in the Civil War, she did nothing heroic, to deserve the Medal of Honor. When she was GIVEN ( that is given, not earned), the Medal did not have the honor it has now, it was given for anything, a entire Regiment was given to every single soldier, just for extending their enlistment by three months. Walker was given hers, because she had constantly badgered the War Department for some kind of recognition for her services, they gave it to her, to shut her up. Her Medal, along with thousands of others ( including that one Regiment) was revoked, around 1890, when it was decided that the Medal would be given only as reward for Valor. She was rewarded the Medal by President Clinton for Political Correctness, only because a women had never recieved it for a REAL REASON before. She was not and still not a real awarded of that prestigious Medal.

Leave them be. We have destroyed our history already by tearing down statues, kneeling for the National Anthem, rushing capital buildings. I feel no one will stop the momentum that has already begun. I for one believe as I always have and history should teach the future and many people from all cultures created our great country. All should be remembered.

Like the two Statues each state elects to place with-in the Capitol, So it is in the naming of the Base. The Name of the bases were at the behest of the state leaders from which the bases reside. Each state could hold a committee give three names for voter consideration, and let the people decide.
Or better yet;
LEAVE THEM THE WAY THEY ARE!
If their name offend you- move to a Northern state and leave these decisions to the adults who live and work and can read a history book with-in their own states. Besides, this issue whats next? Rename every Street names, there is a jackson, Lee and a Bragg in almost every base. Hey- while we are at it- there are Chapels on the end of every company street, we better tear em down and discharge all the military Chaplains- Seperation of Church and State Ya'll... Please, don't we have better things to worry about- like our failed imigration system or $7 dollar gas?
