Is it the seal of your military branch? Perhaps a patch from a particular unit or their distinctive unit insignia? For many Marines, I would venture to guess that it is the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. For me it would have to be my cross sabers, as I was a cav soldier. What is yours?

I'd say my CIB means more to me than the blue cord that I wore.

Air Force Pilot wings symbolize most of my Air Force career. I worked hard to earn my wings and then worked as an operational pilot and staff officer for the next 16 years. My last flying assignment was as a C-130E instructor pilot in Alaska; even though I was the Ops Group Chief of Current Operations, I still flew at least once a week. The wings symbolized an expert level of knowledge, skills, and abilities in air operations.

Lt Col Jim Coe Loved flying in the C130's when I was in Vietnam. Those and some the BirdDog were my motivation to take flying lessons when I returned form Nam.

MSgt Robert C Aldi - The turbulence over the Cook Inlet and surrounding valleys can be legendary to say the least. I've had several experiences similar to yours, but I was at the controls of a C-130. A little scary at night and in the weather trying to fly an instrument approach to Elmendorf AFB (a few miles Northeast of Anchorage International). Not a comfortable ride no matter where you're sitting.

I think my top 2 are the Eagle Globe and Anchor given to me by my Drill Instructor and then the Bloodstripe that was presented to me when I pinned NCO.

"presented to" you? I remember that blood stripe being presented to me and somehow that red stripe on my blue dress pants made it hard to walk for about a week. Earning that EGA on graduation day (San Diego May 13 1994) and that blood-stripe are the winners.
