Well I picked a job where I could still work with Marines, but it really hits home when my friends are going on the range or deploying and I'm still at work.

Hi, A1C Roberts.
I was at Maxwell AFB last week when Retreat sounded. I would go back in today if I could.

SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth That's what triggers mine, every time. Every time the lifeflight helicopter goes overhead. Every time a jet comes in to our small airport. Or when the B-2s & A-10s fly over during a training sortie out of Whiteman.

At work depending on my shift, I'm responsible do either evening or morning colors. Virtually every evening a guy and his friends are working on their trucks in their driveway directly across the street. I'll hear "Attention to colors!" and they come to attention while i'm lowering the flag. I'm guessing they're former or current military (call me Capt Obvious). It brings me back to my OOD days on the ship of doing morning or evening colors. I loved doing that.
