When you pray, do you pray for your elected officials and those who are tasked to be representatives of the people?

This is intended on being a serious discussion on prayer. If you do not subscribe to prayer, please pass and head to the next discussion/trending point. I respect your rights to believe differently - please respect mine.
No doubt being an elected representative is not an easy task. When you are representing your electorate, you represent EVERYONE in your electorate. How one can represent the wishes and interests of ALL has to be a daunting task. How do you pray for your elected officials and what do you think they need more of from others who pray?

Yes SCPO Charles Thomas "Tom" Canterbury since the early 1990's I have prayed for the leaders of this nation specifically for the POTUS and his wife as well as other leaders and judges. I have lifted up the leaders of this nation to our Lord and Savior as the Bible admonishes us to pray that we may live peaceful and quiet lives.

Absolutely...the bible asks us to do just that in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 "I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."
If we want change we have to pray for the ones we elected...whether or not you voted for them they are in that position (God doesn't make mistakes) and need all the help and guidance we can ask for. Additionally, if we want our nation to be healed we also have to humble ourselves as it states in 2 Chronicles 7:14, "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." We have to pray...God hears us if we are sincere in our hearts and he will honor that. We may not get the answer the human side of us is seeking but God will answer the prayer for His glory and not ours. Prayer is a powerful tool...as my old pastor used to say...God answers Knee mail!!!
I think they need prayers for guidance, that God directs their thoughts and decisions, and that they seek His wisdom and not earthly wisdom daily and that they understand that it is ok to stand up for what is right and true from His word.
