None of the above. America's greatest enemy is living next door. It abides in the hearts and minds of every person who has been indoctrinated with an ideology that leads us astray from our cultural roots of individual liberty and self responsibility, self-reliance and respect for the rule of law. Those other "enemies" pale by comparison. They may harm us, but they cannot destroy us. They will merely scavenge our remains if we allow our spirit to die.

Sir, I agree with you. Ever since, I returned from Vietnam in 1970, our country seems to be on a downward spiral, that has increased over the last ten years. Our enemies just need to be patient while we continue to destroy ourselves. I am sad and angry at what I see happening.

We are our biggest threat, the ideology that has been witnessed this year frightens me far more than any other nation, I fear we will allow these "you hurt my feelings" idiots to run things. So I really can not agree more on this, the largest problem we face are not physical threats but beliefs. Well said CPT Jack Durish!

Ignorance and Anti-intellectualism.

No nation is going to destroy us. We'll destroy ourselves, and it will be brick by brick as we allow our Freedoms to be chipped away because we "fear" what our neighbors "could" do, instead of what they "are" doing. We'll give our Government the Power to do just those things, and we'll become complacent, and then America won't be America.

America's greatest enemy is itself. We are truly a great country, but if we are ever defeated, it will be from within.

Don't underestimate the Revolution and our Constitution, they were the beginning of the end for Western monarchies. It helped spark the French revolution and many more after that which cemented the principles of the Enlightenment into Western societies.

As a kid growing up during the cold war era, I remember hearing from the USSR that the U.S. would be defeated from within. I think this is the biggest threat. USSR is long gone, the the threat from within I believe is the biggest because the majority of Americans believe it will never happen or they are too busy to see it creeping up.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But under the name of Liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without knowing how it happened.”
- Norman Thomas Socialist Party presidential candidate in 1940, 1944 and 1948.

"All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.
At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide."
- Abraham Lincoln "The Perpetuation of Our Political Institutions: Address Before the Young Men's Lyceum of Springfield, Illinois" January 27, 1838

I think you are not providing enough possibilities for answers. The enemies of America are intolerance and a increasingly polarized political process. We have ceased to see or have a vision for the future and have become bogged down in the self-servitude of nearsighted goals.

America. We are currently our own worst enemy. Our division, political atmosphere, fear and laziness will be the death of us. We kill ourselves faster than anyone could dream of doing it.

MAJ Zeski, I am truly alarmed at your twisting of the truth. First of all, "gun violence" does not exist. It is strictly a political term designed to cause fear. Firearms, and all other inanimate objects, do NOT commit violence. Violence comes from the heart. Second, vehicular deaths greatly outnumber firearms deaths. Take a look at the FBI and CDC websites. Third, someone exercising their right to defend themselves by acquiring, owning or carrying a firearm does NOT automatically make them a killer, nor does it mean they are devoid of training or responsibility. There are millions of people who DO carry responsibly, many of whom DO seek out good, accurate training. Yes, there are impulsive and irrational idiots who commit criminal acts but THEY are not the norm nor are they condoned by ANY law-abiding citizen. I can only speak for myself, although I'm sure others will agree, but I don't care what a person does as long as it's done responsibly and they accept the consequences, whether good or bad, of their decision. If someone commits a crime, then they deserve to be severely punished and incarcerated.

SSG (Join to see) - Louisiana has 15.63 traffic deaths per year per 100K people. Louisiana also has 19.1 people per 100K die from firearms. There is also Alaska with 7.84 vehicle deaths per 100K people and 19.6 people per 100K that die by firearms. So you can play with words all day long, there are several states where you are more likely to be killed with a firearm than in a traffic accident and no state in which terrorism (unless you go all the way back to when the KKK was terrorizing the south)will ever hold a candle to either of those figures. Major Zeski is spot on about fear of terrorism being a much greater problem than terrorism itself.

SSG (Join to see) - If "gun violence" doesn't exist, neither do vehicular accidents. If the wording is the issue, I have no problem calling it, "violence done by people using firearms." Would that really be any different - "a rose by any other name" - so to speak?

I never said that everyone who goes out to get a firearm is a killer or irresponsible. But, I suspect that there are actually more untrained and unqualified firearm owners than there are trained and qualified ones.

I appreciate that you support enforcement of the law. Would you support legislation or laws that criminalize negligence when it comes to firearms? Would you support laws that would penalize a person who's firearm is poorly secured and is then stolen or taken by someone other than the firearm owner and then used to hurt or kill someone?

Regardless of the cause, at the end of the day, America's greatest comes from Americans - not terrorists, not jihadists, not Middle Easterners, not Arabs, and not religions.

I think we are heavily divided within. We need to look at the issues that are dividing us and find our common ground again. "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." Hermann Goering.

Our biggest threat is our nations ever growing idiology that they don't have to work for anything, individuals believe there is no "ownness" or responsibility for their actions they believe it's their constitutional right. And for those that have been around a few years you can see it within our own ranks. Read some of the things posted about officers and NCOs just in to collect a paycheck and not caring about the troops the only way to fix it is through hard work, giving individuals pride and self worth, making them a productive member of a team. If you make things easy so people can pass then your part of the problem, everyone should not get a participation trophy.
