Who do you think will get the GOP nomination if there is an open convention?

If it's anyone other than Trump or Cruz, the Republican Civil War starts early.

According to GOP rules, one must have won minimum 8 states, which only Trump and Cruz have done. I wouldn't be surprised if the rules got changed. If this happened, I think people would be pissed. To begin with I was 100% supporting Trump. But lately he's fallen into the same name calling, mud sling grove so many politicians fall into. I was hoping we wouldn't get this low. Cruz is not loved by the main stream either, so the career GOP boy are wringing their hands a bit is worry. If isn't Cruz or Trump I think the GOP will be in trouble, and God forbid, Dem put their bottom of the barrel runners in office.

COL Ted Mc
SGM Mikel Dawson - Sergeant Major; You are correct about what the rules are NOW.
However, if the convention voting doesn't produce a candidate by the end of the third round of voting, the rules might well change at that point "In the interest of giving the party membership the greatest freedom of choice and action when the party finds itself in a divisive and unstable situation." of course.

COL Ted Mc - Correct Sir! It will be interesting to see what happens. My prediction: The GOP will be fragmented and Hillary Rotten Clinton will be in office again. I don't see "Give it away Bernie" being candidate, as now he's giving signs of defeat. I hate to see it coming and I really hope I'm wrong. For me I will vote for who ever is GOP Candidate so Rotten Clinton isn't elected.

Never has the GOP had a better opportunity to walk away with an election. They could easily take the White House and broaden their domination of both chambers of Congress. Sadly, they're rising to the occasion and blowing even this magnificent chance. Actually, We the People are blowing it, aren't we?

Completely Agree, Sir. The Grand Old Party has been awfully sickening that last few years for moderates like myself.

As much as I hate to say, I would not be a bit surprised is someone else altogether was called in for the nomination, i.e. Romney or Rubio. I'm not voting for any of these nit-wits, my vote is going to the P/Vp candidates from the Veterans Party of America. Wasted vote in the short term, I grant you, but it proves there is a viable 3rd party option in the long term.

SPC Andrew Griffin - After the 2nd round of voting candidates with any delegates can be nominated if after 5 ballots and there is no agreement all delegates are released to vote for whoever they want or think of. Dwight Eisenhower is the most famous of brokered nominees and the only one to be President. Reagan lost a brokered convention to President Ford in 1976 via a pre-negotiated agreement, but never was really hard fought.

Although his Actions have been just as Hardcore Far Right Wing as any other Tea Party Governor his words have killed him with the Base because he has tried to Paint himself as a Moderate which to the Base equals a RINO. Trump is a Showman a Carnival Barker but I don't see him taking this to Fruition. Cruz another Far Right Wing Extremist can paint himself as the Middle Right in this Scenario and the Most Saleable Candidate.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - that is not including the amount of money that was misappropriated via sequestration.....so frustrating.

SFC (Join to see) - With the Steady March further and further Right by the Base and Tea Party the only one that would be acceptable would be the Reincarnation of Mussolini anyone to the left of that Benchmark would be a RINO in their thinking.

Katich doesn't have a snowballs chance of being the nominee, he's only fooling himself. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus has said in an open convention that it was possible someone other then the front runners may be chosen. He also said it would be someone who was at a time a candidate. Carson, Bush, Rubio all have not ended their campaigns they have just suspended them. So it is possible that one of them could be the nominee.
Some support for Trump is waning so I don't see him making it to the magic number 1,237. Currently Trump is at 758 delegates or 92% on target. Cruz has 533 delegates or 57% on target and Katich is at 144 or 20% on target.
Trump will fare better in states and congressional districts with small shares of college graduates. His path depends on a broad coalition of Southern, Midwestern and industrial Northeastern states.
Cruz’s path rely's heavily on evangelical voters in the Deep South, conservative sections of the Midwest, and Texas.
Katich’s path rely's more on liberal and highly educated swaths of New England, the Midwest and the West Coast.
So more and more likely there will be an open convention. In my opinion if it is not Cruz as the nominee it probably will be Bush, Rubio or Scott Walker in the second or third round of delegating votes.
