I followed my father and brother (and best friend) into the Marine Corps ('93-'97) and then wanted to improve the Army a bit so I transferred to the Army in 1997.

- Marine Corps (1993-1997)
- Army (1997-Present)

I enlisted in the Navy (84-96). Then became a chaplain in the Army and inter-service transferred back to the Navy. While in the Navy, I did a tour with both the Marines and Coast Guard.

There was a captain in my platoon in Ranger school who had just transferred from the Air Force (can't remember his MOS) to the Army Infantry. Ranger school was his first Army assignment. It was a rough transition.

Marines: 86-93, Army: 93-14. Somehow, the Marines made the Army seem easy, especially when putting together my Class A's.

I started with the Navy in 1993, (USS Ohio SSBN 726) took a break and went to the Army (E BTRY 1/1 ADA and A BTRY 6/52 ADA). Now I am finishing my 20 years in the Air Force reserves (72d Aerial Port Squadron).

Army active duty 1994-2000
Air Force Reserve 2006-2009
Navy active duty 2009-whenever they tell me it's time to go home.

Additionally, I haven't served in the Marine Corps, but I am assigned to a Marine Corps unit as a chaplain. If I can swing a Coast Guard tour before they send me home I will have served with all 5 branches.

Never said I was a Marine. I specifically said that I am a Navy Chaplain serving with a Marine Corps unit.

I have had great experiences and have seen the world with both. The majority of the people I have served with have been great. I am a firm believer that your own attitude makes a difference.

USMC 1983-1987 (Aviation Ordnance)
Army 1987-1991 (Infantry, Abn)

The Corps wouldn't let me change MOS to re-enlist until my IRR was over, which meant another 4 years, so I re-enlisted in the Army.

Marine Corps Active and Reserve 1979-1985
Air Force (National Guard) 1985-1996
Navy Reserve 1996-1997
Air Force (National Guard)1997-2004

That little stint in the Navy Seabees was only 6 months my Guard unit was deactivated and I had to find a home. When a new Guard unit was activated went back at my Commanders request. And was damn happy I did!

Don't take that as a knock on the Navy. Just didn't want to start over on my career path for promotion. Don't think I would have been able to accomplish everything needed with the Seabees to make Chief. I had everything mostly completed to make E-8 in the Air Force. Due to a family illness I chose to retire before that happened.
