Who would be the strongest Vice Presidential candidate in 2016?

Thinking of the complete winning ticket in the 2016 Presidential election, who would be the strongest Vice Presidential pick? The one that would put the ticket over the top?

As VPs are generally used to "balance the ticket" it's hard to say without knowing who the Presidential Candidate is. If we are looking at a former Legislator, we want an "Executive." If it's an Executive, we want a Legislator, or possibly even a Judge.
The major issue with the VP is that they don't have a whole lot of real duties Constitutionally. They promote the President's vision, so we can't say X will make a "good or bad" VP just that they will be good or bad with Y.

Scott Walker or Ben Carson......If John Kaisch wins the GOP nomination then I have to go with Ben Carson as his running mate so the election signs would read Vote for Johnny Carson

Really good question, sir. I think it would have to depend on who wins the primary. Ideally the VP should extend the influence of the President, both regionally and politically. Second, the VP must be able to make a viable run for the Presidency. This is why Dan Quayle, Al Gore and Dick Cheney were AWFUL picks for VP as they did neither. Joe Biden interests me, however. In some ways he shows more passion and genuine emotion that President Obama has ever been able to get from a teleprompter. While I respect that, I don't believe he has the command presence to lead effectively.
In the Republican race, the polarization of the candidates' base makes the possibility of a non-primary winner joining the candidate's ticket slim. This limitation, along with the shallow pool of quality in the Republican party, makes speculating on a VP pick more of a game of draw-a-name-from-the-hat.

But if you had me pinned down? Tim Pawlenty or, and I know folks will scream RINO but I think Jon Huntsman is an interesting option.

Heard yesterday that there are actually 529 Republican candidates for President. they are all legally entered. I've yet to find the strongest Presidential candidate.
