Why when a someone posts a post, do some people want to change it into something totally different?

I have noticed that on some posts, some of the RP members bring up other issues that have nothing to do with the original post.
All of the sudden, the original post is not being discussed and something totally different is being discussed.
In the past few months there have been 5 or 6 posts that this has taken place....(non were mine) and in each one of these I see that it causes turmoil.
If these folks want to discuss something in a post that has NOTHING to do with the TOPIC posted, instead of disrupting the post, how about going and posting your own post and discuss it there.
I recently posted something and this happened.
This sort of thing drives me nuts.
Does it drive anyone else nuts, or is it just me and I'm just off of my rocker?

Responding 'off topic' or beginning a tangential thread is easy to do, much like in F2F conversations. That is the nature of human communication. Perhaps a small percentage is malicious, but how 'bout them Cardinals?

PO1 John Miller - LOL...this kind of off topic is ok....cause it's not negative. Happy New Year all.

Sgt Kelli Mays, how can anyone possibly go negative in a post from such a delightful person as you? I love all of your posts!

Sure does! If I were 50 years--make that 60 years younger, I would give her a call. Slightly off topic but I think compliments are always accepted.

Because they are rude and self centered. If they stir up a hornets nest, by arguing with someone, give a down thumb and tell them why. It doesn't have to be your post. It can be on anyone's post, if it happens to you. If they start ragging on you, block 'em. There are over 250,000 members in RP. None of them are going to follow the rules to a T all the time. Lots of things are going to happen with that many members. IMHO.

You need to get off RP, with all your inappropriate material Private. Personally I find it offensive and no where near humorous. This site is for professional members seeking jobs and contact with other veterans. You, Private, need to move on to another pasture to spread your fertilizer.
