We all know Putin's MO on the world stage by now. But what should America do in the likely event that Russia invades Ukraine? Will Biden truly commit to a shooting war with Russia, or will he fall back on a Sanctions only approach to the issue?

Ukraine had a force of 1500 troops committed to the Iraq war, I had the pleasure of serving with some in 2003 while a member of Task Force Gator.

This picture was taken in Al Kut, Iraq and I agree they were good soldiers and I hate what has taken place with the invasion by Russia, it seems as though Russia didn't anticipate as much resistance.

He already said no troops will go, and pulled out the ones that were there. Pretty obvious its sanctions only, but if troops went in, they should be NATO forces, not US, and they should have been there two months ago, and none of this would be happening.

SPC Steven Depuy - I think maybe they are according to this NATO.int release.
"France takes the lead of NATO’s highest-readiness military force on Saturday (1 January 2022), for a period of one year. The formation, formally known as NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF), was created in 2014 in response to crises in the Middle East and Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and is permanently available to move within days to defend any Ally. The VJTF is the highest-readiness element of NATO’s 40,000-strong Response Force."

LT Scott Nicholson - France is kind of back in NATO again. This is the best explanation of their position.
"France, an autonomous but solidary ally
According to the 2013 White Paper, France’s defence and national security strategy cannot be conceived outside the framework of the Atlantic Alliance and its involvement in the European Union.

France is a reliable and solidary ally, essential to the proper implementation of NATO missions, but which retains a capacity for action outside the Alliance and a full autonomy of decision. France thus fully assumes to put forth its interests in the Alliance, to retain an original voice and to be a source of proposals.

France fully assumes its responsibilities within NATO’s balanced burden-sharing:"

I think that translates as we are in NATO as long as it is doing something that suits us.

Rather than NATO, I would prefer UN troops.

We need to take Russia down! Putin is insane and I am disgusted that NATO is not doing more to help Ukraine . Biden’s weakness and His stupidity has cost Veterans lives . His actions in Afghanistan confirms he is the worst president in my lifetime

Biden won’t even commit to going to our southern border nor produce baby formula. Only thing he’s committed to is destroying America and it’s citizens.

We have no choice if we or NATO are attacked and with NATO members feeding Ukraine with weapons it is no longer an IF Putin will attack but when. Remember the Nazi reaction to lend / lease. They were itching for a reason to go to war over that and finally did.

The only way the U.S. goes into a shooting war with Russia over Ukraine is if the other NATO countries are attacked by Russia.

Many people tend to forget past historical events such as the "Minsk Accord" wich ended the unrest in the Dombas region of Ukraine. Russia was helping to enforce the two regions of the Minsk agreement. We have been told to look how evil Russia is and there intent but it has been clearly stating a one sided narrative.

It appears Biden has very publicly (and perhaps unwisely) stated we will not get in a shooting war over this. Dispite us promising to protect Ukraine when they gave up their nukes.

I'm sure further sanctions are on the table and perhaps more material support, but I think that's about it.

SFC Bernard Walko - Strategic ambiguity as long been a tool in our arsenal. Don't let them know what we may or may not do. Keep them guessing.
