We all have to maintain grooming standards and for some of us, um well some of you, that means weekly or bi-weekly haircuts. I had a question: would you pay $10 more (than whatever you pay now) for a haircut at home, at a time of your choosing? You get to pick the barber and time.

Sir,
I'm more than happy buzzing my own or having my wife cut my hair. I'll spend my money on more meaningful things.

My barber already cuts my hair at home when I want and when she demands!

I have to say it was harder for the ex-wife as she had to do a high and tight with a tapered appearance, but once trained well, she did great with it. My lovely second wife says to me, "get in the bathroom NOW!" all the time even when I don't think I need a haircut and cuts my hair. I am not blad as the photo suggests, but shaved head since OEF#1 in 2002. The kids and co-workers know nothing else and is is better on the "duckets".

I've been cutting my own hair for several decades now. About the only time I get a barber shop cut is for special occasions.

If there is anything I care about, it is getting a great cut. 1.5 on top, 1 on the sides, with a Medium fade and a shape up! I would even pay extra to any barber that cuts it perfect!

Makes sense.  When I had hair, I was the same way.

Uh, yeah, try asking for that at the Iraqi PX shop, and you too will just ask to be scalped. Believe me its much better in the end.

I am in the service, not auditioning for the next top model. I buy myself a set of clippers at walmart for $15 every couple of years and clip everything off my noggin a couple times a month. God only knows how much I saved in my 10 years of service

I've been cutting my hair with the same two sets of clippers for more than 30 years. I've saved thousands of dollars.

I already pay $10 more than the PX just so that I can avoid getting the occasional (and unwanted) high-and-tight.

Oh you mean those barbers who know EXACTLY one hair style, regardless of what you describe? That's pretty much why I just had them scalp me during OIF, they literally could not screw that up.

Barbershop shave
don't the shops often have a great conversation and mystique about them? I had a barber I used to visit here at Fort Campbell, called him "WILD" Bill and he always plucked the eyebrows, nose hair and shaved with a straight razor the neck and sideburns, often closed out with a sip of Tennessee;s finest home stilled clear beverage in a SOHO cup right from the 1 gallon jug!

I used to pay $20 outside Camp Casey in Korea (when I had hair) and they do a great job, wash, cut with straight razor. It was rated the best fades of Zone 1. I will post the name when I remember it

I usually pay $0 and cut my own hair. I don't care for hair style and just cut 2 on top and 1 on the sides and I am good to go. Save tons of money.

Ha well this having been written two years ago, I have since upgraded my hairstyle and pay my bimonthly barber to make me look good. A little bit of sacrifice.

Probably not (but i don't think I"m representative of most).  The infrequent haircuts I get these days-hair's falling out faster than it's growing in-I enjoy the time in the chair, been going to the same place since I've left the Army, AND it gets me some 'me' time away from my 4 teenagers.
Hope this helps.  Good luck w/your survey!

I have not been to a barber since 2010. I have lost enough hair that I polish my dome every mondy and Thursday with a razor. Once in a while I miss the "pampering", but I can shave my face 5 days a week and head 2 times a week for 2 weeks on each Gillette blade head.
