Senator Ted Cruz , how is shutting down Department of Education going to affect DODDS (Department of Defense Dependent Schools), since states typically set curriculum standards based off of DoE, but DODDS does not fall under any one state?

After the 2008 elections, the GOP admitted that no one could win without the Hispanic vote. Additionally, almost 30% of the voting public does not identify as Republican or Democrat, but moderate Independents. THESE are the people you need to win over in order to be victorious.
However, other candidates are still pandering to the extreme, hyperpolarized ideological base for votes.
No one can win based simply on the votes of their respective party.
So my question is this...
What steps, as a candidate, would you take in order to appeal to the moderates and Hispanic population?

PO1 Kerry French - Yes Senator Cruz is Latino, but given the fact that he uses his nick name Ted instead of his Christian name of Rafael Edward Cruz he is seen as being ashamed of his heritage.

I would change the order a bit...
As President, what will you do if a Democrat shuts down the government over an issue you don't agree with? As a government civilian and Soldier that was directly affected by the furlough, I would like to understand your willingness to compromise.

LOL Like ONE congressman/Senator could really "shut down the government." You know, there are 99 other Senators and 434 other congresspeople.

Why did it take you so long to renounce your Canadian citizenship?
I am not asking about your "natural born" status or not. "Natural born" status is not an issue in qualifications for the Senate. Do you think it was appropriate for a Canadian citizen to run for and take a seat in the United States Senate?

Senator Cruz was a DUAL citizen – that means he was an American citizen too so yes, it is completely appropriate for him to run for Senate as there are NO citizen requirements to run for Senate. And it is completely appropriate to run for President as well since his mother was born in America.

Senator Cruz, what will you do to ensure service members' rights are protected the same as civilians'? Service members cannot carry their personal firearm on posts or bases despite being licensed. It's as if the very institution that arms us for conflict and to project power is scared of us in garrison. Judging by local commander and federal policies, we are not to be trusted and are therefore discriminated against if we live on post. Barring us from self protection whether on or off post is at the very least violations of the 1st and 2nd Amendments (the right to life and to bear arms). It's hypocritical and flies in the face of the oath we take to support and defend the Constitution.

Senator Cruz, I would be interested to know who you are receiving your military and strategic advice from, as some of your statements on 'carpet bombing' and 'special ops' suggest you do not understand how these things actually function. You mention a decade of defence spending cuts, but you have not mentioned a specific lack in capability. You assert the US military is now below 'any reasonable standard', yet you do not define what your 'reasonable standard' is. Considering how the US defence spending is multiples over the next nearest nations, I'm perplexed as to what this perceived weakness is....? Which part of the military needs to be 'rebuilt'?

Finally, rules of engagement protect the people we are purported to be supporting, and protect the US soldier from criminal charges and moral lapses. It is what separates us from the savages we fight. How would you amend the current rules of engagement?

Senator Cruz, thank you for your time. I know you don't have enough of it right now. I'll keep this simple sir, can we please go after our enemies withthe vengeance they deserve? No reporters. No leash. can we make America the super power she once was. Let's make the idea of messing with us so consequential, that the thought is just not worth it to those who would choose to harm us and our interests. Let's stop sending money to countries who support organizations who intend to harm us. Can we please be Americans again instead of pansies who are so scared to offend. This may seem offensive to some but we're headed down a scarey road as a country.

Sir, I don't believe the soft touch on foreign policy does any good. We're a pushover that sint taken seriously. And scripted politician answers do not appease the independent thinker. Cam you show us that you are different? Can we be taken seriously again as a country when it comes to economic strength and foreign policy? How would you accomplish this?

Sooooo, considering I didn't get many likes... Wouldn't a straight forward question deserve an answer? Oh. Right. No defining stances during a campaign. Keep it vague and broad spectrum so they hear what they want. Maybe I'm a bit calloused, likely so. But come on. Can someone just stand up and draw the line in the sand on where they truly stand. The establishment would HATE me for an election. My stance is issue based. Not party based. Not lobbyist based. I'm blue collar. Dirty blue collar. And my opinion is always based on my beliefs and morals. Not money. I'd never be allowed in DC.

No one person has the answers to every question. Ronald Reagan was a "big picture guy" and surrounded himself with the best and brightest people who shared his vision for America. Will you use all the great talent that has displayed over the past few months in your cabinet and put aside any hard feelings to find the absolute best advisors possible?

Senator Cruz, while the current administration believes that climate change is the greatest threat to national security, I personally think it is our mounting national debt to the tune of over $19 trillion. Do you agree? If so or if not, what is your plan to attack the national debt?
