A great job in researching the history of the colonel's eagle! I learned much from your writing and appreciate the time and effort given to complete the narrative. Thank you! That's a great gift for all our O-6s.

Photo is my Grandfather before he shipped to France for WWI. He was a Corporal in the ND National Guard when activated.

Separate story: friend of mine remarked at his Colonel promotion ceremony that Colonel is the fist rank that it matters the direction it faces on your collar. Shame they promote you to it and immediately perform a lobotomy.

One would think that the COLs today would wear war eagles seeing as how we have been at war for 16 years.

COL Keith Chinn I've known a couple that did. It's too obscure a detail to catch even the most discerning CSM's eye.

Just looked online. I might have done it, but not for $70 set.

COL Keith Chinn - I would think that one of the embroidery/sew shops off base could make a subdued one for your OCPs. Always wanted to do that, but never got around to it.

Great job writing that piece. I was wondering if it had anything to do with Auburn! Thanks for sharing all the details with us here

That is pretty interesting and something I've never heard before. Thank You for the information, that getting into the insignia and real story behind it is great !
