Seeking 2/75 Ranger Veteran (Fort Lewis, 1999–2001) for Paid Historical Consultation.

I'm a fiction author working on a novel set in 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Lewis in early 2001 (pre 9/11). The story is character-driven, focused on interpersonal dynamics and daily garrison life, not a combat operations.

I'm looking for a veteran from that specific timeframe who can consult on:

- Barracks culture, daily routines, weekend habits
- How people talked, joked, passed time
- Gear, storage, the unwritten rules
- Where guys went off-post, what they drank
I've done what research I can from publicly available sources, but I need someone who was actually there to fill in the human texture and catch my mistakes.

This is paid consulting work. Rate negotiated privately. All communication text-based and anonymous.

If you served in 2/75 during this window (or know someone who did) please DM me or comment here.

Gotta love it when a Writer of Fiction, wants to get the scene correct. Kudo's to her. And I doubt anyone who answers her will want pay. Just a chance to talk about their Service is payment enough. There is no one who could afford the price of a good listener.

Thank you for the kind words, Kevin! I truly believe that accurate storytelling starts with listening. While I’m more than happy to pay for someone’s time and expertise, I deeply appreciate the sentiment. It means a lot to be welcomed here.

Eugenia Filinyuk - You are on the right track and that is a profound insight that good storytellers are great listeners. Just like every good Writer is an avid reader! I especially liked that you wanted the mundane every day details...what do you eat, where do you hang out, what is the "locker room chit chat" like. For it is those ordinary moments in life that give good Fiction ...a Non Fiction feel. You will do well!

SGT Kevin Hughes - You're absolutely right. I've gone through a ton of literature (memoirs, fiction, even the Ranger Handbook from 2000s). But books only go so far.
No manual can tell you what guys joked about, what they lived for on weekends, or exactly what they complained about on Monday mornings. That is something you can't invent, you have to hear it from someone who lived it.
Thanks for the encouragement! :)
