Here is my take on Tatoos...I DON'T GIVE A SNOT!!! They are not harmful and are personal to the individual. What in the world do they have to do with readiness and warfighting...here is the answer...absolutely nothing. I personally don't agree with them and won't ever get one because I don't want anything permanent like that on my body...twenty years from now that eagle will become a buzzard and that angel will become a crow...it is a personal choice and not worth spending the millions of dollars we have on telling folks to cover it up or to get them removed or not allowing them to join because more than a 4th of a body part is covered in ink. No telling how many recruits we have lost due to stupid policies. NOW with all that being said I do have an issue with tats that are offensive, sexually, racially, or anything else that could drive a division among the ranks...that does effect readiness, and those should not be allowed or need to be covered or removed. Just my honest opinion.

Here's my problem with tattoos being exposed, especially neck, head, and face ones. They remind of inmates. I see those and I will automatically think the person are a former inmate and I'll have only necessary interactions with that person until they prove me different.

LTC Trent Klug - My 71 st birthday to myself was a tattoo of a bow made of chain link on my left cheek. I'm having a ball with it! People want to know what it means, did it hurt, etc. The only ones who seem to be bothered are middle-aged women, probably because they wouldn't dare displease their husbands.

Our Dad Had Several, He Was, Among Other Careers, A Merchant Marine On The USS Texaco Massachusetts. He Had A Pair Of Race Horses Tattooed Across The Width Of His Chest; As Time Passed, The Ink Faded & His Old Skin Wrinkled, And The Tattoo Appeared To Be More Like 2 Ole Nags Ready For The Glue Factory.
There Is One, However, I WOULD Like To Have ~~ On Both Arms, Near The Shoulder In Medium Sized Lettering: "USAF 06/1961 - 06/1965" I'm Proud To Have Served & I Still Love The USAF...She Did FAR More For Me, Than I Did For Her. She Was The One Most Responsible For My Having A Better Life
