I was browsing through news sites this morning when I came across this article and learned that men who served in the US army who were not legal citizens have been deported after committing crimes and serving prison terms. This reminded me of the some of the situations veterans with PTSD go through. I am not sure there is a simple solution to this issue; but, I hope the US government is looking into ways to reduce this situation from reoccurring and helping some of our involuntarily expatriated veterans.

They should have applied for naturalization! especially while still serving. If they were honorably discharged and were legally in the US for 3 years they would have been eligible for U.S. citizenship. If they were citizens they would have done prison time and would not have been deported. Maybe some research needs to be done to see if they were offered to become citizens while serving and to see if PTSD was an issue.
