Charlie, thanks a lot. The number of servicemembers, veterans, and spouses that get career and college counseling is miniscule compared to the number that use GI Bill and other VBA benefits (a million people a year). It makes no sense for the government to be spending billions on education for servicemembers, veterans, and their families to go to school with so little oversight. https://www.benefits.va.gov/REPORTS/abr/docs/2018-education.pdf

I agree that counseling prior to use would be really helpful. I am a former school/guidance counselor. You cannot make people listen however.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - True, we cannot make people listen. But many will listen to a good teacher/mentor. And many more will listen if guidance is offered when people are ready to listen. Putting time limits on counseling makes no sense if the government is going to be spending billions. https://rebootcamp.militarytimes.com/transition-tips/education/2018/10/17/8-tips-to-help-vets-pick-the-right-college/

Lt Col Charlie Brown - The Department of Labor also offers services for veterans. Many towns have One Stops that have designated career coaches for veterans.
