They need to remake this, this time by someone who read the book. The last director wanted to make it about fascism, which if you read the book it is not.
The other charge is that the book is racist, which again, if you took your sandwich clamps and pried it open, would reveal characters that are cross section of humans from across the world. The main character is Filipino!

My suspension of disbelief engages pretty easily, so I can enjoy movies like this, where some would spend their entire time scoffing at it. It may be that I just prefer the fantastical to the real. :)

SSG Warren Swan - I wouldn't do it. But I can sit and watch fictional characters do it! :) Speaking of roaches...I lived in this place in San Francisco...man. I tell you. I was NOT the dominant life form in that apartment. I developed a phobia of snoring because snoring generally occurs when your mouth is open. Yes. That bad. Heh.

Goes to the kitchen and the damn roaches are eating ALL the food, playing spades, and drinking up all the liquor I had hidden even the Kool Aid with diabetic levels of sugar is gone. It was the purple flavor my favorite one. Those bastards had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to play spades. In the original movie, did you see ONE Orkin man? How about Terminix? NOPE, and they specialize in killing roaches.
