Eleanor Roosevelt and the Soviet Sniper

Thanks for reminding us SGT (Join to see). To be honest I am not surprised at all that the press would ask silly questions of either Eleanor Roosevelt or heroine sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko. Since they were women some of the questions asked were designed to appeal to "women's interests."
IMHO It was great that the sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko survived WWII. Pavlichenko was one of 2,000 female snipers who fought for the Red Army in World War II, and one of the 500 who survived.
It was typical that the US press pandered to what it considered would be of interest to US woman. Europe, East and southern Asia and north Africa were engulfed in WWII as the pig is to a breakfast while the USA was equivalent to the chicken which provided the egg and was unthreatened directly. [Hawaii was a territory at that point]

What a great story about a great warrior and sniper. I love her statement: “Gentlemen,” she said, “I am 25 years old and I have killed 309 fascist occupants by now. Don’t you think, gentlemen, that you have been hiding behind my back for too long?”

The American press is still clueless!
