Sergeant major relieved after claims he embellished awards

Im catching up on old news and this is another Marine Corps story. Seems this Sergeant Major embellished his career a bit and when called out on it, refuses to really acknowledge it. He's no longer in the Marines.

He may have gotten obsessed with his 'rack' in a cultural circle which puts a lot of value on size and numbers. As an E9 he could / should have cared less if he had no awards/medals as E9 is enough. The current SgtMajor of the Marine Corps has not seen combat (I believe).

1stSgt Eugene Harless
Sgt Major of the USMC currently does not have a Combat Action Ribbon, but he did deploy in Iraq with a Helo Squadron in 2006. He also deployed with an Artillery Unit to Somalia in 1993.

SSG Edward Tilton
He lived in a world of pins, ribbons and do-dads. Perhaps my idea that you could only wear your highest six ribbons wasn't that far off.

It's a damn shame that a Sgt. Major of Marines would even feel the need to embellish his already stellar record. It just makes me shake my head.
