SFC Sczymanski James L. - The people behind it obviously understand but I believe most of the ordinary people are just ignorant and being manipulated. The term "Assault Weapon" has been an incredibly successful disinformation tool by gun control advocates.

1. Assault weapons have selective fire, Ar's don't. 2. What is needed is more and better security at schools. Why not hire/ train combat vets, after a vetting process? 3. Bring back mental health in this country. 4. Selectively arm teacher volunteers after they receive training. 5. Police and FIN need to be more proactive when threats are identified to them. My $0.02.

Maj Robert Thornton - There's actually a recent article talking about how "using correct terminology is bullying." If you'd like to get your blood pumping, check it out

Sgt Kennedy, I have seen the article, or one similar. It still is mind boggling how using correct terminology is "bullying". During the last few years before retiring completely, I was an Assistant Professor of Nursing. In that job, correct terminology is extremely important, and regardless of student feelings, must be corrected.

Actually, when DHS puts in a 'Request For Proposals' for a select-fire AR capable of using 30 round mags, they term it a 'Personal Defense Weapon'.

Maj Robert Thornton - Concur. Correct terminology is essential for Communication (as in Command, Control, & Communication). My go to example is " I have an Concern/Issue/Problem." Each of those things mean something different, and when I approach a commander, they react differently based on it, therefore I better have my ducks in a row when I use it.

Florida WAS unexpected, MSgt Cayle Harris. It was pushed through, much as it is being done in the US Congress, under the illusion of safety and protection. Folks don't seem to realize how far reaching the US Assault Weapons Ban will be. Hopefully America wakes up first, but I don't think so.
