High risk, but he or Mattis could manage it, IMO.

If all that is said of the VA is true... assuming the helm is a suicide mission. At this point perhaps it is best to ground the ship, and build a new one.

92% of veterans polled want the VA to remain a government organization. There is a plot afoot to dismantle it and privatized it.

In fact the solution maybe 2 more closely integrated with the defense department medical command.

SSG Diane R. - The VA has 3 primary missions, Education, Burial, and VHA. It does two very well. It has issues with one. The one that requires that it treat people like people instead of "cogs" (with education and burial, you treat everyone exactly the same without exception). Maybe, just maybe, we should realize that Government is very good at "cog mentality" but not good at "people mentality" like Health Care. It's just not a tool in the Government Toolbox. Kind of like saying Medical & Chaplain Services aren't in the USMC Toolbox. No harm, no foul, just not a tool we possess. That said... we have the Navy for that... Maybe the VA needs to "hire" someone to handle their VHA... like an organization dedicated to Health (USHHS or the USPHS as an example).

As long as they get someone in there that knows what he's doing.
