Strange as it may sound, the Long Peace, extending from the end of WWII until today, is still progressing. Why then are we spending more and more on defense? Or, put another way, would the Long Peace end if we stopped spending on defense?

CPT Jack Durish i was referring to the equally well-documented instances of Political Officers standing behind Russian troops and shooting any who wouldn’t blindly charge into meat-grinder kill-zones...
Leningrad & Stalingrad come to mind but there were many other alleged occurances in open country during the esrly days of Barbarossa.
