Thank you my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell for sharing the Vietnam Veterans Tribute "
The Eagle Cried"

"The Eagle Cried" Written and recorded by US Army Major J Billington. This song was written in honor of the sacrifices of Vietnam veterans, who did not receive the hero's welcome that they deserved when they came home from the fight. To the Vietnam veterans that may find and watch this video, please accept my humble "Thank you for your service, and welcome home!" J Billington May 19, 2010"

When I got into S. Fran Int’l Airport Jan 3d ‘72.. I flew out that eve ) there were but a small contingent of Hari Krishna’s.. jus’ wandering around with their flowers and collection cans.. they were busy soliciting some other unfortunate travelers that they came in contact with. I made it to my baggage and out front to a Transport going to Travis. I came home 2-1/2 years later at end of June, begin’g July
‘74.. it was pretty quiet.. even mid morn’g when I got to S . Fran to fly down to L.A. for a couple days to visit my Uncle and Aunt. A few of them Hari Krishna’s were still hanging in trying for donations..
I got approached but I just said have a _____ day! .when I finally got out of L.A.X. The Airporr was like a bee hive.. there were a smattering of Krishna’s there.. again too busy (TYL-thank you, Lord) I got on board and enjoyed my flight to Detroit(DTW) .. my only confrontations was at L.A.X. In the board’g Area and Detroit on my way to get my bags... Armed Forces Police... a mixed team of Army & AF L.E.O. Types.. Scrutinized my orders and I.D, The Army SSGT couldn’t fathom my being so young and being a SSGT..
( I was just turned 21 that June) Thankfully the Senior On That team was an AF TSGT.... He had my ‘6’..
After that when on the Plane and out waiting to take off(we were #3 or 4). A nice lady in a nice suit(pinstripe) who was sitting by me commented she couldn’t help but notice the Military Police talking to me.. I replied that they couldn’t get over my look’g so young.. She goes into her portfolio and pulls out a bus. Card and she ‘s an ambulance chaser.. I say that because it seemed she chased after petty stuff too. It was n’thing to get my shorts in a bunch over...
Them MPs and SPs was just doing part of their duties... She was nice, I shut it down and she didn’t press the non-issue.. i got up and walked around and over the Rockies the weather got a little rough and I had to go back to my seat... there I stayed until Detroit
and Home.

I well remember the saffron-robe colored Hare Krishnas at airports in 1970s SSgt Boyd Herrst. They were at the airport in December 1974 when I flew back to Philadelphia in uniform.

CW5 Jack Cardwell, seems like this photo should fit well here. "This image of an eagle perched atop a gravestone was snapped at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, by amateur photographer Frank Glick during the spring (June) of 2011."
