I heard about this from one of the Generals at the Women's memorial. I think it is shameful.

WoW! that is an amazing lack of class and taste by the Army. We all know that Arlington is getting crowded; having visited the cemetery, I would love to be buried there when I go. But, at what cost? I live in Texas and that is quite a hike to go visit someone. Understandably, this is a crisis that we will deal with when we get there. But this is truly a shameful way to treat people--women--who were important to the WWII war effort. We can only hop (and pray) that Congress will right this slight.

CW5 Jack Cardwell, Shame on you for not posting the date of this NYTimes opinion piece. Did you even notice?
Lt Col Charlie Brown, SrA John Monette, MSgt (Join to see), MAJ Rene De La Rosa, SGT (Join to see), MAJ Ken Landgren, PVT Mark Zehner, SSG Jeffrey Leake, CSM Charles Hayden Passed 7/29/2025, 1stSgt Nelson Kerr, SMSgt Lawrence McCarter, SFC Quinn Chastant, and SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth - Did any of you notice the date of the opinion piece? Many of you are responding as if this is a current and on-going event.
For some of you, I am going to be very blunt about this and rain on your parade - This occurred under your bully boy Obama and his administration. Why are you acting as if this is Trump's or the Republican's fault?
Next, Guess what - a Republican controlled Congress passed a bill AND Obama signed it.
President Obama's administration re-created the problem AND President Obama's administration fixed the problem that they created.
At this point, the only reasonable response was actually posted by CSM Charles Hayden Passed 7/29/2025, however, I am not going to let him off the hook so easily. Sergeant Major, if you had put better context into the quote, I might have let you off the hook.
Here is the actual line that the Sergeant Major was trying to recall -
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an` Chuck him out, the brute! "
But it's " Saviour of 'is country " when the guns begin to shoot; (from Rudyard Kipling's poem, Tommy, 1890)
I will quote the full final stanza of the poem (and I would hope you reflect on it):
You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires, an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an` Chuck him out, the brute! "
But it's " Saviour of 'is country " when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An 'Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool - you bet that Tommy sees!
(from Rudyard Kipling's poem, Tommy, 1890)
