South Korea is a growing military monster that likely required the reactivation of this unit. I keep tabs on the peninsula for newsworthy situational awareness.

Thank you PVT Mark Brown for making us aware that your home unit for 27 months, from Oct 1968 to Nov 1970 was Headquarters and Headquarters Battery 4th Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. The 38th Air Defense Artillery Brigade was originally based at Osan Air Base from 25 May 1961 until 31 July 1981,
Thank you as well for making us aware that the entire 38th Air Defense Artillery Brigade was deactivated 31 July 1981 after a 20-year run providing protection to the South Korea Peninsula airspace.
Activating and deactivating units takes place as RIFs occur and ramping back up to face another war occurs periodically.
Reactivating units is based in large part on lineage and honors associated with the unit. I am not surprised that 38th Air Defense Artillery Brigade was reactivated [to defend Japan] on Camp Zama, Japan, on October 31, 2018.
