Just going to throw this out here from an old finance guy- every purchase you make is tracked, measured, weighed four times, and marketing is subliminally figuring out your spending patterns to understand how to get more of your money, time, life, etc. You don't think the government has purview of that same data?

What qualifies as suspicious? With more than 50% of the shootings, the FBI or the local police already had them on their "radar" apparently. How would this help? More information they could not act on.

ah... and therein lies the rub. but it has a purpose: more information creates a gish-gallop and the lack of scientific literacy or ability to glean data from raw numbers while removing bias means the general public will succumb to their political or other leadership claims about what said data says.
