I'm confused... the trigger is pulled; round fires, bolt goes back, next round is loaded, trigger is released, and the cycle begins again. Isn't that the definition of semi-automatic? Granted, it looks to be a purely mechanical operation without recoil or gas pressure cycling it with no rounds used in the demonstration in the video.

That is absolutely the definition of semi-automatic. I have to assume they mean it’s not gas or recoil operated as you mentioned.
