Thank you, my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell for sharing the video of Hedgerow Fighting in Normandy, June 1944.
Breaking out from the Operation Overlord beach head was critical. The German Wehrmacht, Waffen SS and Luftwaffe ground formations were converging using cover of darkness and inclement weather to move without being decimated by allied air superiority.
1. Lessons learned after the landing at Salerno on 9 September 1943 [Operation Avalanche] which coincided with Italy's surrender to the allies and the unleashing of German onslaught [which reminded some of Gallipoli in WWI] bogged that effort down. That required the landing at Anzio the following year.

My pleasure my friend LTC Stephen F. . The footage here is a fine example of what Gi's went through In France. Not to mention the young boys on the flip side of the coin.
