Coming from a farm family it is a rough time for farmers because we are subsidizing lazy folks that don't want to to work and not the hard working folks in the fields providing the US with food and clothing materials. It is all captured in the "Farm" bill because it all falls under the USDA.

Most of them have brought it upon themselves the bankers all say. Spending to much, not setting anything aside. A lot of the Millennial's just getting into farming haven't seen prices this low and are ill prepared for it financially. Farmers are actually looking at their bottom lines and have discovered they are worth more dead than alive. With huge insurance policies to guard their families against huge losses should the main bread winner die during the year, they are instead looking at these policies as a way out for their families to pay off debt and keep the farm.
