It was the division officer's duty on the USS Blue Ridge. Hong Kong was the first liberty port after I reported aboard in Subic Bay. I remember him droning on and on. Finally he concluded by saying "Don't forget your raincoats". Not seeing a cloud in the sky I asked one of the other five E-6s standing next to me what he was blathering about, The answer was that the DivOff couldn't bring himself to utter the words prophylactics or rubbers.......I almost burst out laughing.

Since I was married with 2 kids when I went into the Army, coming down with this type of thing would have doomed me with my wife
