Parents of Indiana toddler who died on cruise ship share their grief

I've followed this heartbreaking story on the news and just watched the parents interview and was just about in tears watching it. It is tragic and it is so very sad. The parents are going to be suing the cruise line. Whether it could have been preventable remains to be seen. The grandfather who the parents dont blame place his granddaughter in an open window. How in the world does he not know there is no screen? I feel for the parents but I dont know if they should be suing. Any thoughts?

I feel for the parents in grief...I feel for the grandfather that put the child in the window as he will be living with that scene in his head until the day he dies. HOWEVER, adults need to take responsibility and accountability here. WHy would you put your toddler in a window that high with no screen or protection? Why would you even let your toddler near a window with no protections? This is no different than a hotel window or balcony that is 18 stories up...I wouldn't let my toddler go out there even with me because you blink and the little boogers climb like little spider monkeys before you can get to them. Additionally, how did he not know the window was open? to me it is kinda obvious. I don't believe this is the cruise ships fault on this one...maybe some other things but on this...nope.

Feel for the family but how one cannot know a window is open is beyond me. Also what is the point of bringing a toddler on a cruise? Possibly a Disney cruise, but even those are above the heads of most toddlers. I just get the feeling that this family is too much into their own pleasures so brought a toddler along and planned to keep watching over the child to whichever relative was most convenient. The law suit is a convenient distraction and attempt to shift the blame for this tradegy on anyone but themselves. Know this sounds cruel but I also think these are the same type of distracted parents who would leave a child in a car seat in a hot car, everything revolves around them.
