What a sad and interesting story which in many ways still persist to this day.

Capt Seid Waddell - Just ask every poor person in America at the moment. Social Welfare for me is Co-dependence on the government who can now control every thing of your life to just barely get by.

Austin Hocutt, socialism everywhere it is tried always ends up in people being slaves to the state.
I am reminded of the difference between animals in the zoo vs animals in the jungle.
In the zoo the animals have shelter and regular meals brought to them and no fear of predators - but they must live in enclosures and can only eat what the keepers choose to give them. They can only mate if the keepers want them to, and their offspring belongs to the keepers to do with as the keeper chooses.
In the jungle there are no guarantees for food or shelter, or even for survival; the individual must be quick and alert if it is to eat and not be eaten. But it can eat whatever it is able to find and can choose its mate and raise its offspring as it chooses.
It is the same trade off between socialism and capitalism, between slavery or freedom.
If we vote to have the government take care of our needs, we have chosen the zoo and will soon have few choices left over our lives.
Your vote, your choice.

And as Thomas Jackson said that I very much agree with, "I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery."

WOW, that was quite a story. I could see myself doing the same thing when she passed. I know I would not have been as civil to my parents as he was once he figured out what was really going on.
