Interesting that the following-on article in the magazine is "How Trump is Destroying America." Maybe the article on Vietnam is a set-up hit piece on the office of the President, so the Atlantic (no bastion of conservative thought) can take another swing at Pres Trump.
BTW, most of the article is old news. Certainly to those of us who lived in the Vietnam era, we've heard and seen most of this information before. It is a good education for those who reached adulthood after 1970. One thing that was left out: most of us believed that fighting in Vietnam was the right think to do for the US early on. Only after the press pointed out that there was no clear mission and no clear objective did we waiver in our belief in the war.
