Yes we are heading into hurricane season shortly. With everything going on how would we cope with say another hurricane Katrina or hurricane sandy?

My wife, with a degree in Finance, and I, with a degree in Business and Economics, have had the same discussion as we watch events unfold. Even my 15 year old daughter, who we have taught a lot about economics, brought up two or three days ago if we thought this government spending of money we don't have, along with skyrocketing unemployment, might lead to another Great Depression. Sadly, we had to answer in the affirmative. The elephant in the room I have not seen mentioned yet, and even my wife gets uncomfortable hearing me bring it up, is the fact that COVID-19 is taking its heaviest toll on the elderly, helping with the solvency issue the Social Security Trust fund by shortening the number of years our elderly receive benefits. The flip side is that if things continue at the present rate, look for hyperinflation when the bills come due and the dollar is weekend. One of the painful steps that may become necessary is a reduction in veterans disability and military retirement payments. Dark days are ahead.
