This October 2nd image from the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) accompanies a dinnertime discussion between one of the APOD editors and his children. The Sun is 93 million miles from Earth. If we hopped in a car going 93 miles an hour, it would take 1 million hours to get to the Sun. How long is 1 million hours? Over 114 years (there are 8,760 hours in one year).
